Broadway Avenue as seen from 4th Street.
Broadway Avenue is a main eastbound road running parallel with Main Avenue. Together with Thayer Avenue, the two streets make up a set of one-ways extending for two blocks in downtown Bismarck that was established in 1973. When Bismarck was first organized, the street was known as Meigs Avenue.

Over the years, major downtown entities that have been located on Broadway have included the Grand Pacific Hotel, KFYR, the original Federal Building, City Auditorium, Parkade, A.W. Lucas & Company, Fleck's Motor Sales (late Wilhelm Buick), U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, Feist Electronics, and Cowan Drug.

Although Broadway Avenue is primarily associate with downtown, it actually runs throughout the city, essentially running between Washington Street and Twenty-Sixth Street. It is one of the longest roads in Bismarck.

Broadway passes both Medcenter One and Saint Alexius hospitals, and although there are several intersections controlled with a traffic light in downtown, there is only one controlled intersection between Ninth Street and Twenty Sixth Street, at Airport Road.

East of downtown, other major businesses on Broadway Avenue include Scotty's Drive-in and the Coca-Cola Bottling facility.
