The Bismarck-Mandan Dictionary

Divide Avenue is a major arterial road that runs east-west through northern Bismarck. Divide Avenue stretches across the entire city of Bismarck, from the far east off Bismarck Expressway, to the far west where it meets with I-94 and officially becomes Tyler Parkway.

Speed limit on Divide is primarily 25 MPH, however becomes 35 MPH in western Bismarck. Residential homes line most of the road, however Divide does run near or through several important sites, including the YMCA, Sleepy Hollow, the Capitol, and Tom O'Leary Golf Course. Bismarck State College is also located near Divide Avenue, along with Central Market.

Since the opening of Pinehurst Shopping Center in western Bismarck, Divide Avenue has seen a dramatic increase in traffic as it is one of the major roads to the area. Divide Avenue also picks up considerable traffic at morning and evening rush hours do to employees at the North Dakota Capitol, one of the city's largest employers.
