The Bismarck-Mandan Dictionary
The Washington Street construction project was the target of serious debate for a number of years. Citizens realized that there was a desperate need for improvement along this busy stretch of road, however were also concerned about the widened road creating other problems, including the loss of historic trees along the boulevard. Compromises were eventually made and the construction was completed in October 2007.
In northern Bismarck, Washington Street is the main road to Horizon Middle School and also passes by Northbrook Mall. The YMCA and Tom O'Leary Golf Course are located near the intersection of Divide Avenue.
